Develop Intellect Not Mere Intelligence
It is wrong to consider intelligent and intellect as synonyms. Many have investigated the difference between these two. King Vikramaditya held a conference of sages, poets and scholars. He prayed, "Oh scholars! Let me know the difference between intellect and intelligence so that I can be happy. Let me know which is the nobler of the two". The scholars unanimously said that intellect was superior. Intellect carries quality, fraternity and character. Intellect has the five aspects of Sradda, Ruthumu, Sathya, Yoga, and Mahashakthi. The intelligence improves daily. The one who is full of intelligence is full of doubts and ego. Where ego exists, the atmic power is covered.
Today we consider intelligent people mighty and powerful, but in ancient times, people avoided the company of the intelligent. Only the one with intellect is respected.
Second aspect is Sathya. Thus Ruthumu expressed as words is truth. Truth is not saying what you see or hear today. That is nijam or fact and changes with time. Truth is the expression of Ruthumu in words.
We must talk with all purity. Never utter lies and argue thereafter. With arguments, there is the scope for enmity. This age is highly sacred, Divine and lays the royal path for future. Youngsters of today are the emancipators of this country. So for students, the first lesson is self-control.
The combination of Sradda, Ruthumu, Yoga and truth leads to the mighty power.
At the bottom is the body. Next are the senses, mind, intellect and Atma on top. Intellect is very close to Atma. The intellect shines because of and is the reflection of the Atma. It is a mistake to compare intellect with intelligence. Intelligence is bound by the senses and helps as long as we have body feeling.
The walls create the difference in the rooms. If you remove all the walls, the house becomes one big hall. This is this blissful state.
Body is like the negative. The vibration is the positive that makes the body work. The hands of the clock move because of the key. Similarly, for the body of the clock, the key of life instigates the limbs to move.
Bhur bhuva swaha. Bhur is body, it is materialization and is of matter. Body has all the elements like iron, lime, soap and phosphorous. It has 4 bars of soap, two buckets of water, nails and one bucket of lime. Bhur is earth. Bhuva is vibration i.e. the life force. The radiation or Pragnanam makes the other two work. Veda calls Pragnanam as Brahma. Thus all three are within us.
Good thoughts come out of the intellect. Without the intellect, one is a fool. This intelligence is worldly and relates to the business transactions of the world. Everything goes on as per the will and ideal of God. It is good to know this ideal of oneself as the spirit. God is the best ideal and is the director of all.
Mind thinks. Mere thoughts make the legs walk, the hands do work, the eyes to see and the ears to listen. Thus all the limbs discharge their duties. The ears listen but they cannot talk. Tongue can talk but not listen. God has commanded each organ to take a particular activity. We find senses but not the mind discharging their duty. Mind tells it is bad, but still you do it. Don't follow the mind. It is a mad monkey. Body is a water bubble which may burst at any moment. Follow the conscience then you can lead a proper life. As man doesn't discharge his duty, he and the world are restless.
Diyoyonah prachodayat. Just as sunlight dispels darkness, intellect dispels ignorance. The basis for the intellect is self-confidence. Without self-confidence, you cannot achieve anything and everything would be chaotic. You should have the feeling that I am human being; I am Divine.
Manava in Sanskrit means a person with faith. Today none have this faith. At least animals have faith, like the dog having faith in his master. If man has no faith in his fellow men, how can he have any faith in God. We may live a short life, but we should have faith in God. Students! There are lots of things unknown to you. The mind is like a white cloth. When the cloth gets dirty, we give it to the dhobi. When he returns it, we say he has made it white. He didn't make it white, he only removed the dirt. The mind is soiled by worldly thoughts. If you beat the mind against the stone of the Lord, it will be clean. With sincerity and faith you can achieve anything, even reach the sun.
What is the sun? It is not the one that supplies hydrogen. Vision is the sun. Sudarshana means good vision. Gajendra prayed, "Oh God! Save me I am lost and tired". You are the elephant trapped by the crocodile called ego. As it lost its ego, it prayed to God. When God sent the Sudarshana, it is not wheel but the Divine vision. Thus the power of the sun is present in your eye. Vision needs both the sun outside and the sun inside to join. If you close your eyes, the sun inside is obstructed so you cannot see. If you go into a dark room and open your eyes, the exterior sun is absent and so you cannot see. Therefore the outer and the inner sun are needed to see. The dead body has two eyes yet cannot see because the vibration is lacking.
In order to have Divine, know the intellect. It is Divine will that is called self-will. Only God has this will power. Who is self? God. They take as their own power. That is foolish. In all these powers, there is God.
There are many subtle things you should know. Many say Swami repeats many things. Until you learn, Swami has to keep on repeating. You feed the same stomach because the food is digested. Until you practice and attain bliss, things must be repeatedly told. The Divinity of Bhagavan is ever new and ever fresh. Bhagavan and Bhagavan's word are ever new! That which is ever new is Divinity!
