Sense Control For Spiritual Progress

To be successful in the spiritual field, character is essential. The one who develops the three P's of character (Purity, Patience and Perseverance) will find his life redeemed. A nation without character is not a true nation.

The human life has three gunas or attributes. Once they are gone, the human life loses human value. When human values are lost, man behaves in a manner worse than an animal. He is a human only in form.

Life without character is useless. The human values that constitute character are the true strength. Without character and human values, all authority and position are useless. Character is needed to be called a human. As students have not been brought up properly on all these lines, the country is in its current pitiable state.

Good virtues, good mind, adherence to truth, devotion, discipline, and duty are taught by real education. One should not consider textual knowledge as education. One has to express human nature keeping in view the welfare of society and the nation both now and in the future. Enquire about the novelty of human life. Birds and animals, though without formal education, observe strict discipline. In spite of all education, man does not observe the minimum discipline. Human life is rare. With respect to food, sleep and procreation, man and animals are not different. What distinguishes man from animal is wisdom or the third eye of knowledge. In this sacred knowledge, character is very important. We may chant the Vedas, but you should recognize the human values. Having received all the education; a foolish one does not know his own self. With all education, he indulges in arguments. Why should anyone study to die? We should study to become immortal. What is born is sure to die. The spirit has no birth or death. Acquire the wisdom which is beyond death.

It is very difficult to cross the ocean of family life. Oh foolish man, pray to God for help! We should sanctify our time by thinking of God.

The world has progressed in science and technology. It has declined with respect to morals because of the onslaught of selfishness. Today man has become a puppet in the hands of selfishness. Develop social awareness. That day when man transforms swartha (selfishness) to paraartam he will get yadaartam. With the pure and steady heart, one is bound to be successful.

There was once a rich man who went on a pilgrimage. He wanted more comfort so he planned to carry less luggage. Though he was rich, he was able to pack everything into one bag. He visited all the pilgrim centres like Kasi and Kedarnath. He could have the darshan, sparshan and sambashan of the Lord. He could go to the mandir and offer worship in the day, but he could never get a proper night's sleep. One can live without food but not sleep. The reason for his sleeplessness was his bed full of bed-bugs. The plight of man is similar. He has all the material comforts and pleasures but is still troubled by the bugs of bad thoughts. The peace within is true peace and is not obtained by study or received from someone else. This peace or bliss is not found outside. We have to recognize this truth. So long as there is Bhrama (illusion) there will not be Brahma (Divinity). God is one, not two. This Divinity is in all in the form of love. Students should have full faith in this truth.

God is love. Love is God. This sacred love is the Divine form so keep it pure.

This stage called youth is not permanent but like passing clouds. In youth, you find agitations. To overcome this, chant God's name and realize, "This does not befit me". Thoughts are clouds, mind is the moon, intellect is the sun and heart is the sky. Thick thoughts appear in youth and cloud the moon and sun. Be patient. Don't be in a haste. Haste makes waste. Peace is very essential for the body and mind. All those things you find outside are the reflection of the inner being.

What is kriya yoga? It is to exercise control over bad feelings, thoughts and actions. When these are controlled, it is possible for good to come out.

You should be ideal boys and ensure that society progresses to noble heights. Today there is only imitation. Imitation is human; creation is Divine. Our boys should have sense control. They have to clean all the dirt from society. You should serve. While serving, you lose all sense of ego. So serve with sacred ideals and no desire for the fruits.

The eternal and supreme bliss is one of wisdom; is non-dual; is ethereal; dwells in hearts. It is the pure, unsullied, infinite witness without attributes. This is the bliss of the Self. That is our property. The whole world is in you.

When you close your eyes, you don't see. Thus all the scenery is within. Man ventures thousands of miles into the atmosphere. If one searches even half an inch within himself, he'll see everything.

At night, you have dreams of mansions and other things. When you wake up, they are not there. In the day, you see other objects which you don't see in your dreams. One is day dream, the other night dream. You are present in both but the one present in the day-dream was not there in the night-dream while the one present in the night-dream was not there in the day-dream. You are God. God is not separate from you. Your inner voice teaches you, "I am God!", but you neglect its teachings. You have no faith in yourself. First comes self-confidence then self-realization.

Never follow the unsacred path. Love is not for money. Love is for love alone. With so much love in you, if you can enjoy a fraction of Divine love, you can enjoy infinite love.

With love, there is nothing which cannot be accomplished. Enemies become friends; those who are far come near; the separated are reunited. So develop love. There is no love, so the world is full of misery. The love is missing because of selfishness. Everything is artificial love. Art should come from the heart. You should find the strong love.
