Truth And Its Practice
We consider human life the one of worldly activity and tendency. What you see, hear and report as done is the worldly truth. The spiritual truth is beyond time and space. Truth is beyond three attributes. Truth is God. Everything emanates out of this truth. Truth is God and everything came out of God. The entire creation ultimately merges in this truth.
Sathyam has three parts, Sat + Y + Am corresponding to life + food + sun. Every person needs these three. All three are the forms of Brahma. Sathyam also signifies Sa + Ta + Ya. If the syllables are reversed we get Ya + Ta + Sa, i.e., Yama or Niyama (inner outer discipline) + Tapas (sense control)+ Sakshat (Divinity).
One should have control over one's inner and outer senses. Penance is not standing on one's head but harmony of thought, word and deed. When there is control over inner and outer senses, Divinity manifests. Sathyam Jnanam Anantam Brahma. Brahma means that which has taken the cosmic form. Therefore man today goes by worldly facts forgetting spiritual truths and so is full of darkness. Manava = Maya + Not + Conducts, i.e. the one who conducts himself without illusion. Manava also is Ma + Nava i.e. not new. Man is ancient. Being human, dedicate life to truth.
Sat is truth or being. Chit is awareness. Being and awareness lead to bliss. What a fool is he, if he is in search of himself? We search for bliss all over the world. We run after objects, meet others and do activities so as to be blissful.
The water bubble is born, grows and merges in the water. Man is the bubble that is born in the water called God. Man is so ignorant of this. This is Maya. The whole life is Maya. Life, family, death are all illusion. For this life of illusion, why are you deluded. That which does not exist is illusion.
Thinking that a rope is a snake, you will focus a light upon it. You then realize that it is just a rope. The rope was always a rope. Similarly then and now, you are the form of bliss. So Divinity is bliss which neither comes nor goes. Truth is the harmony of thought, word and deed. What comes out of the heart must be uttered and acted upon.
The first thing regarding the body is aham or I. Aham is born out of the Atma. The Atma is the father of I. The mind is the son of I and so the grandson of Atma. Speech is son of the mind and hence the great grandson of the Atma. Thus when the spirit is pure, the mind and body are also pure. So truth does not mean what you see or hear.
A person married to one wife will be put to many difficulties. Samsara = Some + Sara or some essence. The one with two wives will be put to a lot of hardships. Dhruva was put to difficulty and went to the forest because of his father's two wives. Dasharata's son too went to the forest on account of the three wives of his father. The mind has ten wives called the senses. The senses put the mind to suffering. The wife called eye says she wants to go the cinema or watch TV. The wife called tongue nags for masala dosa. The wife nose desires fragrances. The mind is put to lots of trouble, cries to God and then starts to exercise control.
Death, family, happiness are all worry. Oh God! Who will free me from worry? Worries arise when we forget the truth. The one with truth will be victorious. The truth will submit to nothing. Truth is one. Once you follow truth, you are bound to be successful. You can transmute the earth to sky and sky to earth. If you forget truth, it is not life at all. Untruth causes fear and anxiety.
Truth is inward. Whatever be the circumstances, resist them and be ready to keep up the promise.
Vamana extracted the promise from Bali. Bali replied to his guru, "You may be my teacher but I'll never go back on a promise".
Therefore lead life in truth. In this congregation, if there are ten such people, they can uphold the world. Who is a scholar? Is he a scholar if he goes through all the texts? The one who maintains equanimity is pleasure and pain, and cold and heat, is the real scholar.
The whole world is called duality. No one likes to eat sweets continuously. Once in a while, a piece of pickle is needed. In dual world, there is profit and loss. Dual mind is half blind. It is like the oscillating pendulum. The moment it stops, the hands of the clock will also come to rest. So long we need time, hands must move. Time is God. Everything is time.
One must have control over time, and must not be afraid of it. God dwells in your heart. God gifted man with the faculty to perform good action. This human life is to be surrendered to God. Man should become God. Unfortunately, man reverses to the level of animals. You should never reverse but stay in forward gear till you reach the goal.
We consider human life mean. Not three-fourth but full life is truth. God is full. You are full. Truth is full. So follow the path of truth and don't utter lies. In times of danger, don't speak truth or tell lies.
Once an ascetic took the twin vows of never lying or harming others. Indra wanted to test this ascetic so he took the guise of a hunter chasing a deer. The ascetic came out of his meditation as the deer fled by him. The hunter came running and asked the ascetic if he saw the deer. If the ascetic said yes, the deer would be caught and harmed. If he said no, the ascetic would be lying. Thus caught in a dilemma, he prayed to God. If you pray with a pure heart, God must respond. God gave him a vision and the ascetic was able to answer thus, " Oh hunter, that which has seen cannot say. That which can say has not seen". And thus he was able to extricate himself from the situation.
By telling the truth, one should not be put to danger nor should he incur sin by telling a lie. Thus follow the middle path.
