Mind - The Cause For Liberation And Attachment
Face is the index of the mind. All thoughts are reflected in one's face. It may be misery, anger, hatred, etc. So, man should not give any scope for bad thoughts. With bad thoughts he faces difficulties. Hurting and harming others are bad actions, and further they will be reflected back. Bad thoughts are not normal to mankind.
When a stone is dropped in a well, the waves spread around. Similarly, in the lake of human mind, when the stone of thought is dropped, it spreads through all the senses.
Through the eyes, it results in bad sight. Through the mouth, it results in uttering bad words. Through the ears, it results in hearing bad words. Through the hands, it results in bad activities.
Our thoughts are responsible for our misery. Once thought originates, we should discriminate whether it is good or bad. By good thoughts like serving others and thinking of the welfare of others, one will be pious. Pious means pious qualities. These qualities are present in every man. We don't get peace from the world or from education or from a job.
Peace originates from inside. When one goes beyond thoughts and offers everything to God, one is pious. All thoughts arise from the heart. The heart is the temple of God. When one recognizes this, he gets good thoughts. For one's good or bad, his thoughts are responsible and so he should entertain good thoughts.
Everything is the reflection of inner being. Once Krishna summoned Dharmaraja and Duryodhana separately. He asked Dharmaraja to find a bad man in the kingdom. He asked Duryodhana the same. After some time, Dharmaraja returned and said to Krishna that there was no wicked man in the kingdom and all are pious. Then Duryodhana came and said all are wicked and not even one is pious. Duryodhana is wicked so he didn't find any pious men in the entire kingdom. In Dharmaraja, the pious qualities are there so he exhibited them. Everything is the reflection, reaction and resound of the thoughts in oneself.
Mind is a bundle of thoughts. These thoughts result in actions. For pain and pleasure, one's actions are responsible. Basing on this, saints declared, "Mind is responsible for liberation or attachment". One's food and habits are responsible for his thoughts. If one observes patience, he observes everything. Everything is based on his fortune. Fortune means that which is not seen. Fortune depends on character, which in turn depends on action, which in turn depends on thoughts. So one's thoughts are responsible for his good or bad. Usually one blames others for his pleasure and pain. This is not good. Others are not responsible. For his fortune, only his thoughts are responsible. If one fails in examination it is because of lack of effort. If he passes, it is because of his efforts only. This effort is responsible for all, in every aspect. Even in the spiritual path, one will be agitated. One is intoxicated sometimes, so this is responsible for everything. One should not blame others. All these thoughts originate from the heart. If one recognizes this, then he is Sath Sankalpa.
One is in peace does not mean that he has resisted all profits and losses. One who maintains equanimity in pain and pleasure is in peace. Pain and pleasure are passing clouds. They are temporary. The whole world is temporary. This moment, one is happy, the next moment he is unhappy. All foreigners ask, I want peace. Peace is not external. It is internal. When 'I', which indicates ego, and 'want' indicating desires are removed, one is in peace. Peace is everywhere. In external world one gets pieces.
Vedanta speaks of body (Adi Bouthika), mind (Adi Daivika) and nature of spirit (Adhyatmika).
You are not the body and mind but the Atma. Experiencing Adi Boutika, Adi Devika and Adyatmika is Swabhava. Swa means Hamsa or swan. Sohum is Hamsa Gayatri. Once you know the truth, you are Paramahamsa. It is the nature of swan to distinguish the milk and the water. So differentiating body from spirit is paramahamsa. Gradually, separate the worldly feelings. God is the cause; nature is the effect.
Jagat is that which comes and goes. We experience this jagat or world in many ways. In this world we should try to recognize Jagadeeshwara or God. When one goes to market and buys orange fruit, he pays the money. He cannot eat the fruit without first peeling it and throwing the seeds away. Similarly body is the fruit and bad thoughts and bad emotions are seeds. Once they are not removed, they grow into plants. One should enjoy the juice of compassion.
The moment a bad thought starts, one should feel, I am man and not an animal and he should try to remove them. He should feel that his characters are truth, love, peace, and compassion. Compassion is the chief quality of Rama. The essence of compassion should be found in every man. When one develops bad thoughts, he is sorrowful. When the body which is a tank is filled with love, then this love comes out through one's action and words through the tap called the mouth.
The life without love is living death. One should be the embodiment of love. If one loses everything, and develops love, then love develops everything. When one sows a seed, it develops all the seeds, branches, leaves etc. When one sows the seed of love, it produces a tree of love and all bad thoughts rest on this tree of love like birds. In order to disturb those birds, one makes sounds. Similarly to disturb all the bad thoughts on the tree of love, one should make sounds by singing Rama, Krishna and Govinda.
