  1. The 74th Birthday of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba will be celebrated on November 23, 1999. On this auspicious occasion, we offer our humble Pranams at the Lotus Feet of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and thank Him for allowing us to do this seva. We invite all our readers to read Bhagavan Baba's teachings and find out how He wants us to celebrate His Birthdays.

  2. Women's Day will be celebrated on November 19, 1999. Bhagavan Baba has spoken at length about the dedication of women and the important role played by mothers in the society. On this occasion, we are pleased to present our readers with excerpts from Bhagavan Baba's Divine Discourses on this topic.

  1. This year the annual Akhanda Bhajan (24 hour non-stop Bhajan) will start at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 13, 1999 and end at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 14, 1999.   1. Dasara is a ten day festival that begins with the first day of the month of Aashvayuja in the Lunar calendar. The first nine nights, Devi Navaraatri, are dedicated to the maternal feminine Shakti aspect of the Divine. The tenth day is Vijaya Dasami, commemorating the day that Rama achieved victory over Ravana. This year, Dasara is being celebrated from October 10, 1999 to October 19, 1999. Bhagavan Baba has spoken about the inner significance of this very important festival on a number of occasions. Sai Darshan is happy to share some of these Divine Words.

  1. On September 13, 1999 we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, a day dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha who is the remover of obstacles. To mark the occasion, Sai Darshan is pleased to provide devotees with a variety of quotations from Bhagavan Baba on the importance of Vinaayaka (Ganesha) worship.

  • Due to a server reconfiguration by our web hosting service, cgi scripts for "Thought for the Day", "Quotable Quotes", "Gems from the Lord", "Bhajans" and others were not working. We are modifying these scripts. We regret the inconvenience, and hope to have these working soon.

  • Sept 11 - "Thought for the Day" fixed. For "Bhajans", in each category, eg. Ganesha, English Bhajans, etc. please select "All bhajans", since the individual bhajan selection script is not functional. We're working on the other scripts.

    3. Sai Darshan is pleased to present the devotees with a new section titled Slokas. This section features popular Sanskrit slokas (prayers) with meanings. The slokas are grouped based on the aspect of Divinity (God or Goddess) to whom the prayers are directed. Future updates will add new slokas. There are also plans to add audio versions of the prayers at a future date.

    1. The menubar at the bottom of the window has been redesigned to include more selections, allowing access to popular pages directly. A few items (Divine Discourses and Slide Shows) have floating menus attached to them. These dynamic menus come up when you click on them, and further choices can be made within the menu item. For example, you can click on Slide Shows and choose Lingodbhavam from the floating menu. You will need a browser version 4.0 or higher for this feature.

    2. Search capability has been added for the Sai Darshan Web Site. We thank the NetNews Organization for indexing the Sai Darshan site, and for allowing us to use the search engine at their site.
    3. On March 18, 1999 we celebrate Ugadi (Yugadi or New Year, according to the Indian Lunar Calendar.) The New Year is named Pramaadi. Sai Darshan wishes all devotees A HAPPY UGADI and invites them to ponder selected excerpts from Swami's Divine Discourses on Ugadi.
