  1. The 75th Birthday of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba will be celebrated on November 23, 2000. On this auspicious occasion, we offer our humble Pranams at the Lotus Feet of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and thank Him for allowing us to do this seva. We invite all our readers to read Bhagavan Baba's Birthday teachings and find out how He wants us to celebrate His Birthday. You are also invited to enjoy the wonderful sight of Bhagavan Baba sitting on the Jhoola (Poornachandra Auditorium, Nov 23, 1988).

  2. Women's Day will be celebrated on November 19, 2000. Bhagavan Baba has spoken at length about the dedication of women and the important role played by mothers in the society. On this occasion, we are pleased to present our readers with excerpts from Bhagavan Baba's Women's Day Discourses.

  1. This year the annual Akhanda Bhajan (24 hour non-stop Bhajan) will start at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2000 and end at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 12, 2000. Sai Darshan is pleased to present devotees with some Divine Words of advice on the importance of singing Bhajans and what we can accomplish with community singing.

  1. On October 26, 2000 we celebrate Deepavali, the festival of lights. People celebrate this festival by lighting arrays of lamps and bursting firecrackers, signifying the victory of good over evil. Bhagavan Baba has spoken about the inner significance of this very important festival on a number of occasions. Sai Darshan is happy to share some of these Divine Words.

  1. Dasara is a ten day festival that begins with the first day of the month of Aashvayuja in the Lunar calendar. The first nine nights, Devi Navaraatri, are dedicated to the maternal feminine Shakti aspect of the Divine. The tenth day is Vijaya Dasami, commemorating the day that Rama achieved victory over Ravana. This year, Dasara is being celebrated from September 28, 2000 to October 7, 2000. Bhagavan Baba has spoken about the inner significance of this very important festival on a number of occasions. Sai Darshan is happy to share some of these Divine Words.

  1. Swami is currently in Prasanthi Nilayam. He left Brindavan on Sunday, June 11, 2000 at 9:30 AM, after morning darshan, and arrived in Prasanthi Nilayam at 2 PM. On the way, Swami stopped at Bagepalli and inaugurated a Ganesha temple.

  1. We celebrate Eswaramma Day on May 6, 2000. This day is dedicated to the memory of Eswaramma, mother of Bhagavan Baba, and is celebrated as Children's Day by devotees of Bhagavan Baba all over the world. Bhagavan Baba has talked about the glory of motherhood and the important role played by mothers in society. Sai Darshan is pleased to present its readers with excerpts from selected Divine Discourses delivered by Bhagavan on this occasion.

  2. The Festival Calendar has been updated with the Divine Message for Eswaramma Day.

  3. The Sai Darshan Home Page has been reorganized to provide easier access to the contents on the web site. All the links are now categorized by types (such as Bhajans, Discourses etc.). Links that belong to each category are grouped together and displayed as a block with a header for the category.

  4. A new section on Audio Clips, Gaayathree Manthras, has been added. Currently this section contains the following audio clips:

  1. On April 12, 2000 we celebrate Sree Raama Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama. On this holy occasion, Sai Darshan invites all devotees to listen to our dear Lord Sai Ram, as He descibes the greatness of the Raama Naama (name of Raama).

  1. On April 5, 2000 we celebrate Ugadi (Yugadi or New Year, according to the Indian Lunar Calendar.) The New Year is named Vikrama. Sai Darshan wishes all devotees A HAPPY UGADI and invites them to ponder selected excerpts from Swami's Divine Discourses on Ugadi.

  2. The Festival Calendar has been updated with the Divine Message for Ugadi.

  3. The Sloka section has been enhanced with a page on Bhagavad Geetha. Currently this page contains an introduction to Bhagavad Geetha and the slokas from Chapter 12 (Bhakthi Yoga) of Bhagavad Geetha. There are audio files attached to each sloka and these can be used to learn the correct pronounciation. A Real Player is needed to play the audio files.

  1. On January 15, 2000 we celebrate Sankraanthi, which is a festival that celebrates the glory of the Sun God. This day marks the entry of the sun into Uttarayana, or the zodiac house of Capricorn. Special sacredness is attached to this movement of the sun. To mark the occasion, excerpts from Bhagavan Baba's Discourses on the importance of Sankraanthi are presented.
