  1. On August 31, 2003 we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, a day dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha who is the remover of obstacles. To mark the occasion, Sai Darshan is pleased to provide devotees with a variety of quotations from Bhagavan Baba on the importance of Vinaayaka (Ganesha) worship.

This day is dedicated to the memory of Esvaramma, mother of Bhagavan Baba, and is celebrated as Children's Day by devotees of Bhagavan Baba all over the world. Bhagavan Baba has talked about the glory of motherhood and the important role played by mothers in society. Linga Materialization and Lingodbhavam By Swami on Shivaraathri
On the afternoon of Shivaraathri, March 1, 2003, during his talk, Sri Narasimha Murthy, warden of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute, Brindavan Campus, requested that Swami not suffer the ordeal of bringing out a Lingam this year, and that Swami materialize the Linga in His hand. Soon after Sri Narasimha Murthy finished his talk, Swami materialized a large golden Linga 3 inches in length, with a wave of His Hand.
Later, the devotees were blessed with Swami's Shivaraatri Discourse , after which Bhajans began. At 7:10 p.m. Swami brought up a golden Hiranyagarbha Linga (Lingodbhavam).

The US Sai Organization in conjunction with the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust is investigating US devotees' desires to see live or delay broadcasting over the internet of Swami's discourses, darshan, cultural events in Prasanthi Nilayam, and the like. They are requesting devotees residing in the US to complete and submit a US Questionnaire on the US Sathya Sai web site. It is extremely important to gather user data so that they can make suitable computer arrangements. Currently the survey is for US devotees only. Thank you.

  1. On March 1, 2003 we celebrate Shivaraathri, which is a festival devoted to the worship of Lord Shiva. It is normally observed with night long devotional singing and chanting. Bhagavan Baba has talked at length about the significance of this important festival and how it has to be observed by us.   1. On January 14, 2003 we celebrate Sankraanthi, which is a festival that celebrates the glory of the Sun God. This day marks the entry of the sun into Uttarayana, or the zodiac house of Capricorn. Special sacredness is attached to this movement of the sun. To mark the occasion, excerpts from Bhagavan Baba's Discourses on the importance of Sankraanthi are presented.
